My Apologies
Storms of life
I had every intention of releasing an email today, tomorrow, and early this week but as always life gets in the way.
If you are not aware we have Tropical Storm Ida on the way. Forecasted to be a strong Cat 3 or even 4 at landfall. While I am a good distance away from the currently forecasted track of the storm, I am on the east side of the storm which is the bad side to be on.
We are forecasted to still receive strong tropical storm force or cat 1 strength winds here over a period of 2 days, beginning Sunday morning. With that said, my writing will be on hold for a few days to a week.
I fully expect damage and power outages and will update on Twitter whenever possible. I am currently attempting to borrow a generator from a friend, those things are too expensive for my bank account to go buy one at the moment.
I would appreciate your prayers in the coming few days, let damage be minimum and no loss of life anywhere along the coast.
With all that said, here is the perfect opportunity to mention prepping. I went to the grocery store yesterday and bought one case of water, 2- one gallon jugs of water, and some bread.
Lines were long with buggies overflowing. People suddenly spending hundreds of dollars and emptying shelves, all because they are not prepared. Some people will wait until today and most will wait until tomorrow. The last day before the storm hits.
This is kin to the panic buying you seen last year at the beginning of covid. Oh, I also bought a pack of toilet paper.
The fact that I do not have to empty my bank account on short notice, and the fact that I do not have to worry about feeding my family and keeping them safe and hydrated with minimal effort makes prepping a no-brainer to me.
My advice to you, think about what your most common natural disaster is for your location. For me it is hurricanes, for you, it may be blizzards, or earthquakes, or something else.
You need to plan accordingly and you need to make sure you’re able to sustain yourself and your family for a minimum of a month.
So as I take the next couple of days to batton down the hatches, take my situation into thought, and make a plan for you and your loved ones. Until next time, stay safe, and keep growing.
